Bondi Beach

Bondi is Australia's most famous beach. It is a great surf beach, and well suited to beginners looking to learn to surf.

Bondi's south facing beach protects surfers from the summers north-easterlys which bring with them bluebottles (stingers). The beach is sheltered, so the waves aren't too rough, and Bondi's superb surf life savers patrol the beach every day of the year.

Bondi is also excellent for beginners as it so popular with tourists and non-locals, so there isn't any 'locals only' mentality which can sometimes be displayed at smaller, quieter beaches.

There are several surf schools operating on Bondi beach, and many have all-girl classes.
